Pale Shelter was released as a single in Canada in 1983 to promote The Hurting, but strangely, the new version of the song wasn't used. Vertigo instead opted to use the original Mike Howlett produced version, first seen a year earlier on TFF's second UK single. Even stranger yet is the fact that this is an entirely different arrangement of that version; it appears to be a new edit of the (Extended Version) from the UK 12" single. This limited edition double single features the standard Canadian 7" plus a second disc featuring the 'Mad World (World Remix)' and 'Ideas As Opiates (Single Version)'. This is the only Canadian single release to feature either of those tracks. The first disc is essentially the same as the regular Canadian 7" release, however the image of the Hurting child on the label is flipped!
