do you remember a guy that's been
in such an early song
i heard a rumour from ground control
oh no, don't say it's true
they got a message from the action man
ohh happy hope you're happy too
i've loved all i've needed love
sordid details following

the shrieking of nothing is killing me
just pictures of jap girls in synthesis and
i ain't got no money and and i ain't got no hair
and i'd like to quit but the planet is glowalowalowalowalow

ashes to ashes, fun to funky
we know major tom's a junkie
strung out on heaven's high
hitting an all time low

time and again i tell myself
i'll stay clean tonight
but the little green wheels are following me
oh no not again
i'm stuck with a valuable friend
ohh happy hope you're happy too
one flash of light
but no smoking pistol

i've never done good things
i've never done bad things
i've never done anything out of the blue- woh-o-oh
i
want an axe to break the ice
I
want to come down right now

ashes to ashes, fun to funky
we know major tom's a junkie
strung out on heaven's high
hitting an all time low

my mama said to get things done
you better not mess with major tom
my mama said to get things done
you better not mess with major tom
my mama said to get things done
you better not mess with major tom
my mama said to get things done
you better not mess with major tom
my mama said to get things done
you better not mess with major tom

This is a cover of the David Bowie song, which was a #1 hit in the UK in 1980. Roland sings lyrics slightly different to those on the original Bowie recording.

"The NME were putting together a compilation of various artists covering their favourite 'number ones' and asked us if we would care to contribute. When perusing the list, I was shocked how few I really cared for. In the end we plumped for this brilliant piece by Bowie and tried desperately to do something original with it; eventually gave up and made a carbon copy - still it's better than Blur's version of 'Maggie May' (or is it?!!!!)."
